There are Fewer Sulphites in Organic Wine

Sulphites are a chemical used to preserve and stabilise the wine. While some level of sulphites do occur naturally in the wine-making process, organic winemakers do not add additional sulphites to wine, meaning there are less in the final product. 

During wine processing and production, sulphites were first documented in the 1800s when it was used as a preservative for white wines. The use of sulphites has been controversial because they can cause allergic reactions and other health issues such as asthma attacks, migraines, and hives. The Sugar Content is Lower

The sugar content of organic wine is lower than that of non-organic wine. Non-organic wine contains about 18 grams of sugar per litre, and organic wines contain 10 grams per litre. People looking to restrict their sugar intake can find this very helpful. This is due to the differences in the fermentation process of organic and non-organic wine. 

In the former, all the grapes' sugar gets converted into alcohol during fermentation; however, the latter leaves some residue sugar resulting in a sweeter wine. Sugar is also sometimes added in to non-organic wines, as a means of altering the final flavour.

Contains Fewer Additives

This means that there are fewer additives in organic wine. Organic wines are not subject to the same level of processing as non-organic wines, which can lead to higher levels of preservatives and other additives.

In the past, organic wine was considered to be a niche market. But now, it is a growing trend in the wine industry. The production of organic wine is more environmentally friendly because it does not use any pesticides or chemical fertilisers in the vineyards.

The European Commission supported this claim and disclosed that the organic farming practised in producing this type of wine results in limited environmental impacts. This is partly due to the more responsible use of natural resources, energy, and biodiversity. As a compounding effect, areas with these types of farming have a better-preserved ecological balance.
